Leone C. Anderson, 94, of Vermillion, SD passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the Wakonda Heritage Manor in Wakonda, SD.
Leone Ostrem was born December 10, 1917 in Centerville, SD to Thomas and Gay (Lunning) Ostrem.
She married Russell Anderson on September 8, 1937 and they farmed and raised a family in rural Wakonda area for 48 years. Leone also worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Dakota Hospital in Vermillion for a few years during that time.
Leone was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Wakonda before they moved to Vermillion in 1986 and they joined the Trinity Lutheran Church. Her favorite times were family, crocheting and knitting.
Leone was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell, two infant grandsons, a great grandson, three brothers, a daughter in law and a son in law.
She is survived by her daughter Janet Hollingsworth of Green Valley, AZ, her sons; Dick (Linda) of Vermillion and Doug (Valerie) of Great Falls, MT, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson. She is also survived by a brother Boyd Ostrem of Centerville, SD three sisters; Joyce Edman of Waverly, IA, Phyllis Larson of Beresford, SD and Anna Mae Nelson of Centerville and three sister in laws; Marie Ostrem and Fern Ostrem of Centerville and Ruth Ostrem of Waverly, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 7 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion with burial in the Union Cemetery rural Wakonda. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. hansenfuneralhome.com.
