The South Dakota Board of Regents has approved two new master's degree options through the University of South Dakota's Department of Music. Beginning fall, graduate students will be able to specialize in collaborative piano and instrumental/choral conducting. USD is the only school in South Dakota to offer these degrees.
According to Timothy P. Farrell, D.M.A., chair of USD's Department of Music, the degrees will provide invaluable opportunities to interact with world-class musicians, which will prepare them for a wide range of career pathways.
The two new graduate degrees join the music department's curriculum offerings that include specializations in music education, music history, performance and the history of musical instruments.
