Carter Andre and Peter Haught with 82s tied for ninth place for Vermillion's best placings in the Vermillion invitational boys golf tournament at The Bluffs on Sept. 7.
West Central's Riley Danielson was the individual medalist with a 72 to lead the 65-man field.
Andrew Heine tied for 39th with a 94, Jake Odens was 49th at 98, and Jay Munger and Paul Schwasinger tied for 52nd with 101s as the Tanagers' 356 team score put them in seventh place. Madison was the team champion at 320.
Vermillion's JV golfers had these scores: Sam Craig 112, Gavin Gilbertson 114, Tim Ellison 117, Josh Prescott 117, and Tristen Meadows 135.
At the Harrisburg Invitational on Aug. 28, a 15-team meet, Harrisburg won the team title, and the Tigers' Luke Rezac's 73 was the best score.
Andre led the Tanagers with an 84, Haught played the course in 88, Heine 90, Schwasinger 95, Odens 102 and Munger 107.
In a dual match with Lennox at The Bluffs, the Orioles edged the Tanagers by the slimmest of margins, 183-184. Schwasinger's 43 led the VHS scorecard, followed by Odens at 46, Heine at 47, Meadows at 48 and Andre at 53.
The Tanager golfers will be at Elk Point-Jefferson's invitational today (Friday) and at the Big 8 Conference meet in Harrisburg next Tuesday to complete the regular season.
