Vermillion's entry in the state Class "A" boys golf tournament, Carter Andre, tied for 76th place with a two-day score of 193.
The tournament was played at Spearfish on Monday and Tuesday. Coleman Caldwell of Chamberlain was individual state champion with a 145 score, topping the field of 105 golfers. Lead/Deadwood won the state team title with a 655 score, five strokes better than Harrisburg.
Andre was tied for 74th after the first day of play with a 97. He came in on Tuesday with a 96.
Though only a sophomore, this was Andre's second straight year of qualifying for the state tournament.
