Vermillion, SD- Sanford Vermillion Medical Center and Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive on Friday, October 5 from 10 am to 1 pm and 2:30 to 5:30 pm at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center. Community members are encouraged to help boost the fall blood supply.
Every three seconds someone in the United States needs the precious gift of blood. The only way to meet these needs is through the generosity of volunteer blood donors committed to donating blood at their local blood drive. Community Blood Bank uses 550 units of blood per week to service 30 local hospitals including Sanford Vermillion Medical Center.
"This blood drive will help with meet the needs of patients that use blood this fall at Sanford Vermillion Medical Center," states Ken Versteeg, Executive Director, Community Blood Bank. "We invite those that have donated multiple times as well as first time donors. Donating blood is a simple way to impact multiple lives within the community."
Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of the donation. Please bring an I.D with you.
It is recommended that a person eat and drink plenty of fluids prior to donating blood. For information call Community Blood Bank at 1-877-877-3070 or Sanford Vermillion Medical Center at 624-2611. Walk-ins are welcome.
