LeRoy Bierle, 85, of Vermillion, passed away Friday, Sept. 21 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
LeRoy was born June 18, 1927 in Utica, to John and Mary (Hasker) Bierle. LeRoy served in the Navy during WWII for three years and married Margaret Tacke on June 26, 1948 in Yankton.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Vermillion; his children, Jean, Jack (LaVonne), Anne (Dave) Benson, Steve, Dick (Karen), Bob (Christy), Greg (Rosie), Larry (Tricia), Kay (Jeff) Hansen, Melinda (Bruce) Boyum and Chuck (Nicole); 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry (Barb) Bierle; and a sister-in-law, Karen Bierle.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jim; his parents; and infant sister, Shirley; two brothers, Don and Dan Bierle; and a son-in-law, Dave Benson.
Memorial Mass was 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion with private burial after the services. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Monday at the church with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. hansenfuneralhome.com
