Phyllis Jones

Phyllis M. (Hanson) Jones, 79, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Country Club Retirement Center in Ashtabula, OH where she had been a resident for the past year.

She was born May 31, 1933 in Vermillion, SD, the daughter of Alfred and Fannie (Powell) Hanson and had been a resident of Euclid, OH most of her life.  Phyllis graduated from Vermillion High School in 1951 and studied at the University of South Dakota.

She worked as an accountant at Addressograph Multigraph for many years until it closed and then worked for Progressive Insurance and later for Aetna Insurance in the accounting departments as well.

Phyllis enjoyed casino trips, crossword puzzles, and counted cross-stitch. She cross-stitched many beautiful pieces that she had shared with her family.

Her survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Jones (and her husband Mark Zmijewski) of Chicago, IL and Lori Jones of Dorset, OH; one grandson, Phillip Zmijewski of Chicago, IL; one sister, Marjorie Carlin of Sioux Falls, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Thelman Reid; four sisters, Lucille, Doris, Joyce, and Bonnie; two brothers, Lowell and Harold; and her parents.

A private service will be held at the family gravesite in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion, SD at a later date.

No calling hours will be held.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Country Club Retirement Center and Hospice of the Western Reserve for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Phyllis.
