Sand Creek Post & Beam, a Nebraska-based manufacturer, will expand into South Dakota with a location in North Sioux City. The company is expected to create 20 jobs in North Sioux City over the next three years.
Sand Creek Post & Beam is the leading manufacturer of custom-designed, wood post-and-beam barn kits. The company features traditional barn styles, building barns that are authentic both in design and materials. Currently, Sand Creek Post & Beam barns stand proudly in 49 states and Canada.
"I couldn't be more pleased to welcome Sand Creek Post & Beam to South Dakota," said Gov. Dennis Daugaard. "The decision of such a well-known, progressive company to locate in South Dakota speaks volumes about our favorable business climate."
In 2011, Sand Creek Post & Beam was named Nebraska Small Business of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the firm was selected as one of the fastest-growing, privately held companies in the nation by INC. magazine in each of the last four years.
"Barns are an important part of our shared Great Plains heritage," said Sand Creek Post & Beam President and CEO Len Dickinson. "Currently, most of our timbers come from the Black Hills. We are confident another of South Dakota's great natural resources – its well-trained sales people in the North Sioux City area – will be a natural fit for us and our iconic structures."
The Governor's Office of Economic Development and the North Sioux City Economic Development Corporation were instrumental in assisting with site selection. Sand Creek Post & Beam will be located at 600 N. Derby Lane, Ste 1B, North Sioux City, SD 57049.
Sand Creek Post & Beam has joined with the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation to assist in the hiring of qualified candidates for the new positions. Individuals interested in applying for a position at the North Sioux City facility should inquire at the South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation's North Sioux City office, located at 504 River Drive.
