Their first dual of the season out of the way, Vermillion High's gymnasts resume action after an 11-day break Saturday.
The Tanager ladies will be at the Wagner Invitational.
In the season opener on Nov. 27, Sioux Falls Lincoln came to the VHS gym and went home with a 125.75 to 116.5 victory in the varsity dual. Vermillion won the junior varsity competition by a margin of 80.15 to 59.85.
Three Lincoln gymnasts went 1-2-3 in the all-around standings among the varsity girls, led by Sydney Torgrude with a 32.75 score. She won the bars and floor exercise events. Vermillion had the fourth, fifth and sixth-place gymnasts—freshman Cheyenne Mallory, 29.79; senior Morgan Hower, 29.7; and senior Rory Tucker, 29.2
Hower was third on the bars at 6.6, sixth on the floor at 7.9 and in a tie for fourth in the vault at 8.2. Mallory placed fifth on the bars at 5.65 and second on the beam at 8.35. Tucker was second in flooir exercise at 8.65. Another Tanager, senior Alexis Reich, tied for sixth in the vault at 8.15. Junior Anna Hammond tied for fourth in the vault at 8.2.
Vermillion had the top three gymnasts in the JV all-around standings, led by Anneliese Taggart at 24.35 and followed by Hope Knedler,2 21.55, and Brisee Schnack, 19.95.
Taggart won the bars at 2.9, was second on the floor at 6.0, won the beam at 7.5, and won the vault at 7.95. Schnack was third on the beam, fifth on the floor, second on the bars and fifth in the vault. Knedler was third on bars, fourth on the beam, fourth in the vault and first in floor exercise. Kathryn Farrell placed third in floor exercise, and Reich was second on the beam.
