12/30/12 23:39 —?Deputies assisted in searching for a suspect of an assault which occurred in Vermillion. They then assisted a State Trooper with a DWI investigation after he located the suspect.

12/31/12 14:52 — A citizen reported money taken from her bank account by electronic transfer without her knowledge. A deputy took information for follow up investigation to determine where the money was transfered.

01/02/13 00:04 — A deputy was dispatched to an area north of Vermillion where GPS information placed a 911 call in which the caller hung up. The area was checked along with residences nearby and no problem was found.

01/02/13 00:38 — A deputy transported a patient from the Hospital to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

01/02/13 19:05 — A deputy served a protection order to a person in Vermillion.

01/02/13 21:30 — A caller requested assistance from a deputy regarding a child custody dispute. The deputy offered suggestions on how to resolve the matter in civil court. No crime had been committed.

01/03/13 16:39 — A deputy was dispatched to a report of a 911 call where the line remained open with no caller speaking. He responded and found no problem at the residence.

01/04/13 17:19 — A deputy received a trespassing complaint from a property owner and a harassment complaint from the suspect of the trespassing complaint. The deputy mediated the dispute.

01/04/13 17:39 — A deputy investigated a report of a Wakonda woman receiving threatening phone calls and text messages from another woman. The matter is under investigation.

01/07/13 08:25 — Deputies traveled to Mankato, MN to transport two inmates back to Clay County for theft charges.

01/07/13 14:45 — A vehicle was observed driving 72 mph on 306th St. The vehicle was stopped and the driver cited for the violation.

01/07/13 23:16 — A deputy investigated a report of suspicious activity at a vacant house in Wakonda. It was learned that a man had permission to store property at the house and was moving the items in at night.

01/08/13 09:30 — The School Resource Officer assisted school administration with investigating two students who had turned in projects with statements which caused concern. Parents were notified and school discipline policy was implemented.

01/08/13 11:26 — A deputy served a protection order to a person in Vermillion.

01/08/13 17:40 — A deputy investigated a stray dog report in Wakonda. He found the dog was home and tied up but spoke to the owner about the ordinance prohibiting the dog running at large.

01/09/13 10:28 — A complaint of a stray dog was received from a Wakonda resident. The dog's owner was able to locate the dog and put it in. He was notified of the potential fine. The complainant did not pursue charges.

? 01/09/13 11:24 — A caller in Wakonda reported a lost cat. Deputies were nearby handling another matter. They promptly located the cat and notified the owner where it was.

01/09/13 15:05 — A deputy responded along with fire units to a report of a fire northeast of Vermillion. Upon arrival it was found the fire was a controlled burn in a pit. Fire Units were canceled.

01/09/13 15:14 — A rural resident notified the Sheriff's Office of vacation plans so deputies can check his residence while he is away.

01/09/13 15:42 — A deputy investigated a report of a person using a private trash dumpster without permission. The person was advised that this was illegal. No charges were filed.

01/09/13 19:40 — A report was received of a sexually inappropriate video posted on Facebook by an Irene resident. The video was removed but the matter is under investigation.

01/10/13 10:59 — A caller reported someone had accessed their cell phone and bank accounts and had made unauthorized financial charges and changes to the account information. The bank is working to make sure no funds are lost.

01/10/13 18:21 — A letter was received reporting a theft from a vehicle parked north of Vermillion. A deputy investigated but was unable to contact the person who wrote the letter. A report was initiated in case further information is found.

01/10/13 19:44 — A complaint was received from a Vermillion resident at work in Union County about a person in Yankton County violating a protection order. Information was forwarded to the Yankton County Sheriff's Office and they are investigating the matter.

? 01/10/13 20:32 — A deputy responded to a report of an injury accident north of Vermillion. Alcohol was involved. The deputy assisted the Highway Patrol with the accident investigation.

01/11/13 04:07 — A caller reported some items stolen from the back of his pickup while it was parked overnight during his shift at the Wakonda nursing home.

01/11/13 07:51 — A deputy encountered a disabled vehicle in the street in Vermillion. After calling the registered owner he learned they were working to move the car. The deputy provided traffic control so the car could be towed to a service station.

01/11/13 13:32 — A deputy responded to a request to keep the peace while an employer picked up property from a terminated employee. The property was picked up without incident.

01/11/13 14:44 — A caller reported an erratic driver on Highway 50. A deputy located the vehicle and stopped it to assess the driver who was found to be distracted but not impaired.

01/12/13 11:27 — Deputies transported an inmate from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail for an outstanding Clay County warrant after her sentence was served in Minnehaha County.

01/12/13 14:06 — Deputies transported a patient from the jail to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

01/12/13 17:31 — A deputy transported a patient from the Sanford Hospital to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental health committal.

01/12/13 23:08 — A deputy observed a vehicle moving at 73 mph in the 55 mph zone north of Burbank. The car was stopped and the driver cited for the offense.

01/14/13 14:32 — An inmate was transported from the State Pen in Sioux Falls to the Clay County Jail to be held on a warrant after completing a prison sentence. A patient was also transported back form the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls to be committed on an involuntary mental health hold.

01/14/13 16:00 — A deputy transported a patient from Vermillion to the Human Services Center in Yankton for an involuntary mental illness hold.

01/14/13 17:27 — A deputy served a protection order on a Vermillion man and assisted the petitioner with retrieving necessary items for their child's care.

01/15/13 15:55 — A deputy assisted a woman with getting to her vehicle so a friend could transport her to the hospital after she declined an ambulance.

01/15/13 17:45 — A caller reported witnessing vehicles chasing deer south of Centerville. A deputy responded and spoke to the property owner and contacted a Conservation Officer. The Conservation Officer will follow up with the investigation.

01/16/13 16:50 — A deputy and Highway Patrol Trooper located a truck that was reported to be leaking fuel while traveling on Highway 50. The driver was notified of the problem and he made arrangements to repair it.

01/16/13 21:07 — A deputy received a report from a Burbank woman of an altercation with her boyfriend that occurred earlier in Iowa. She wanted information about a protection order. She was given this information and the deputy arranged for the boyfriend to go to a motel.

01/16/13 21:15 — A deputy observed a vehicle in operation with license plates expired for over 4 months. The vehicle was stopped and the driver cited for the offense.

01/17/13 14:54 — A deputy checked on a disabled vehicle parked along Highway 19. The owner was contacted and was able to move the vehicle without further assistance.

01/17/13 18:50 — A deputy transported a patient from the Sanford Hospital to the Human Services center in Yankton for an involuntary mental illness hold.

01/17/13 19:12 — A caller reported a suspicious phone call that seemed to be a phone scam. A deputy gathered information and the matter is under investigation.

01/17/13 21:36 — A deputy investigated a rollover accident on Burbank Road. There were minor injuries reported. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor.

01/18/13 18:15 — A deputy served a protection order to a man in Vermillion.

01/19/13 12:46 — A rural resident reported marks on his garage door and stated the door didn't work as well as it had. A deputy responded and found the marks didn't appear to be intentional damage or recent.

01/19/13 18:29 — A caller reported an erratic driver swerving on Cherry St. A deputy stopped the vehicle and found the driver was distracted by his cell phone.

01/19/13 20:40 — A report was received of debris on 452nd Avenue. A deputy responded and removed the debris.
