LINCOLN, NE — Bethany Buell set a USD indoor pole vault record for the second consecutive week by recording a 13-11 3/4 mark while winning the event at the Frank Sevigne-Nebraska Invitational on Saturday.
Buell won the event by 3 1/4 inches and broke her previous school record of 13-10 that she set at the USD Bill Hillenbrand Alumni Meet on Jan. 26. Teammate Madison Mills placed third with a 13-5 1/4 while Emily Grove, who competed unattached, finished fifth at 13-2 1/4.
The women’s team recorded one more top-five finish at the meet. Rachel Weinandt (Yankton) finished fifth in the 600-meters with a time of 1:35.23. Jilanne Doom (Wagner) placed sixth in the 3000-meters (10:41.09), Megan Glisar was sixth in the high jump (5-8) and Carol Miller was 10th in the mile (5:14.73).
On the men’s side, the 4×400-meter relay team of Christian Nielsen, Erik Hill, Jeff O’Connell and Lukas Bernard finished fourth in 3:17.98, Benson Langat placed sixth in the 3000-meters in 8:38.40 and Cody Linder was ninth in the triple jump at 46-6 1/4.
Also at the meet, Colorado State’s Alex Muntefering (Parkston) placed fourth in the special event mile (4:08.24). South Dakota State’s Luke Leischner (Parkston) finished second in the consolation 400-meter dash (48.61).
The Coyotes will next be at the Iowa State Classic on Feb. 8 and 9.
