Twenty-five swimmers from the Vermillion Area Swim Team will be traveling to the Tri-State Championships in Yankton this weekend.
These VAST swimmers qualified to attend the event, which will pit VAST swimmers against the fastest swimmers from teams from northwest Iowa, northeast Nebraska and southeast South Dakota, by meeting or beating qualifying times in various events.
VAST members who qualified to attend include:
8 and under division:
Morgen Mollman, Kristy Muriuki, Douglas Sharples-Schmidt, Raphael Sternadori
9-10 division:
Toria Andre, Annika Granaas, Olivia Granaas, Lizzy Hallaway, Annika Holdhusen, Kayleen Job, Hunter Lavin, Brady Martinez, Megan Muriuki, Gabe Telleria, Charlie Ward
11-12 division:
Maddie Lavin, Isabel Telleria, Anna Van Holland
13 and Over:
Seth Druin, Anna Hackemer, Jacob Krier, Lexie Malimanek, Madisen Martinez, Kyleigh Moran, Abril Telleria
The meet has 205 swimmers registered.
VAST will be making the trip to the State Championships in Aberdeen March 1-3. VAST currently has 19 swimmers qualified for the three-day event.
