Vermillion High gymnasts are in Rapid City this weekend for the season-ending state meet.
Team competitions are taking place today with individual competitions in all events set for Saturday.
The Tanagers went to Wagner twice last weekend to end the regular-season schedule. In a Saturday five-team meet VHS was fourth with a 116.85 team score behind Yankton-Bon Homme, Chamberlain and Wagner and ahead of West Central. Anneliese Taggart with a ninth in floor exercise on an 8.25 score was the only VHS gymnast to place in the top ten in an individual event.
Earlier in the week at a triangular Vermillion had a 119.65 score to finish second behind Wagner’s 121 and ahead of West Central’s 116.75. In the all-around standings Rory Tucker was third at 31.15, Taggart fourth at 30.15 and Cheyenne Mallory fifth at 29.1.
Tucker won the floor exercise event at 8.7 and placed third on the bars at 7.35. Taggart won on the beam at 8.0, was fifth in vault at 89.1 and fourth on bars at 7.25. Mallory placed third in the vault at 8.3.
