Pioneer Memorial Foundation has scheduled its Gala Fundraising Event for March 23 at the Bridges of Beresford Golf Club in Beresford. Adam Timmerman, former NFL All Pro player for the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams will headline the event with a special presentation. Andy Erickson, DJ and program director for KKLS Radio will serve as master of ceremonies.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a social hour. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. followed by Timmerman’s presentation. The Brass Quartet from Mount Marty College, Yankton, will play during the gala and both a live and silent auction will be held. All proceeds from the evening will benefit special projects at Pioneer Memorial Hospital & Health Services.
A native of Cherokee, IA, Timmerman played for the South Dakota Jackrabbits earning Division II All-American and Academic All-American honors. He was drafted in the seventh round in 1995 by the Green Bay Packers. He was with them for four seasons and was a starter in their 1997 Super Bowl XXXI win and their Super Bowl XXXII loss to Denver. He joined the St. Louis Rams in 1999 and was a starting member of the 1999 “Greatest Show on Turf” team that won Super Bowl XXXIV and returned with the team to Super Bowl XXXVI in 2001. Timmerman also participated in two Pro Bowls with the Rams, and was team captain in 2003-2005.
Timmerman retired after the 2007 season and came back to his agriculture roots in Iowa. He is currently general manager of ICON Ag and Turf, headquartered in Le Mars, and continues to farm with his brother. He lives in Cherokee, IA, with his wife Jana and three children, Mason, 13, Alexa, 11, and Jada, 7. Timmerman also takes time to work with young people through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Both a live and silent auction will be held with items donated by area businesses and individuals.
Auction items include a get-away package to the Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, IA, special football packages from SDSU and USD, signed footballs by Timmerman and Russ Hochstein, artwork, a Sioux Falls golf package, Nebraska Cornhusker memorabilia, Green Bay Packer items, bed and breakfast outings and much more.
Silent auction packages include numerous entertainment, food and specialty items.
Admission for the evening will be $40 per ticket. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at the Pioneer Memorial Business Office, Centerville Community Pharmacy, Centerville Medical Clinic, Parker Medical Clinic, Viborg Medical Clinic, Lewis Drug in Viborg and Beresford and Merchants State Bank, Viborg.
