Ralph Kittelson, 89 years, 11 months, died Jan 20, 2013 at Berryville, AR. Ralph Norman Kittelson was born in Milan, MN, Feb 20, 1923 to Selmer and Lillian (Norman) Kittelson. He graduation from Milan High School and went on to serve as a paratrooper during WWII in the European Theater. Upon military discharge, he returned to farming in the Appleton, MN area.
Ralph married Carol Olson of Montevideo MN, Jan 15, 1948 and they were blessed with five children. In 1962 he joined the National Farmers Organization at a grass roots level. He was very active in the growth of the organization at both state and national levels. Ralph served as a member of the Appleton School Board, was active in the DFL and many other civic organizations. In 1970 they purchased the Lamplighter Motel and made their residence Vermillion.
On Aug 30, 1980, he married Char Guindon of Beresford. They bought the Island Motel, Holiday Island, AR with his brother and sister-in-law, Les and Rio Kittelson. Ralph was a Holiday Island commissioner, loved golfing and spent countless hours voluntarily landscaping the golf course. He was very outgoing, a lifelong learner and loved spending time with family and friends.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Char of Holiday Island, AR; children, Kristen (Gordon) Anderson of Lake City MN, Gwen (Kent) of Pelican Rapids MN, Stephen Kittelson of Coon Rapids MN, Susan (Mark) Baldry of Dumont MN, and Barbara (Michael) Kabeiseman of Yankton.
