Tanager golfers split a pair of duals

Vermillion’s girls golf team split a pair of duals in the first week of the season, dominating Madison and losing by four strokes to Canton.

The Tanagers bettered Madison by 24 strokes, 373-397, in a dual played at The Bluffs. Brooke Schwasinger and Allison Heine had the day’s two best scores at 85 and 90, respectively. Kate Brockevelt carded a 96 and Elly Miller 102. Madison’s best round was MacKenzie Robson’s 91.

Canton edged Vermillion by a 192-196 count over nine holes at The Bluffs. Canton’s Lindsey Sorlie’s 37 was the day’s best round, followed by Schwasinger’s 44 and Brockevelt’s 46. Other Tanager cards showed a 53 for Kayla Stammer and the same score for Kyleigh Moran.

VHS golfers are due to host Lennox Monday, travel to West Central Tuesday and host Dakota Valley next Thursday.
