Considering how rough it has been for every spring sport this year, it should come as no surprise that the final day of the Class “A” girls golf tournament at MIlbank this week was called off all together because of the weather.
Play was delayed on Monday, but eventually every golfer finished her first round. What they didn’t know at the time was that those results would stand as the final results.
Vermillion finished in ninth place with a 424 team score. Parkston won the state team title as expected, though by only three strokes, 350-353, over Sioux Falls Christian. Individual medalist was Cassidy Vollmer, Hot Springs, with an 82.
Elly Miiller finished her high school career with a tie for 22nd place, playing the Milbank course in 49 going out and 49 coming in for an 18-hole total of 98.
Allison Heine placed 31st with a 103 round, followed by Kayla Stammer’s 105, good for a tie for 33rd place. Brooke Schwasinger tied for 62nd with a 118. Kate Brockevelt withdrew from play early due to illness.
