06/23/13 09:00 – A deputy responded to a medical emergency north of Meckling and assisted the patient until the ambulance arrived.

06/23/13 10:07 – A deputy observed a vehicle speeding on 306 St. at 72 mph in the 55 mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for the violation.

06/23/13 14:51 – A deputy observed a car speeding at 65 mph in the 45 mph construction zone west of Vermillion. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for the offense.

06/24/13 08:28 – A deputy investigated a car/deer accident on University Road.

06/24/13 09:31 – A deputy investigated damage to a small bridge on a township road.

06/24/13 12:39 – A report was received of stray goats eating bean plants on Bluff Road. A deputy attempted to locate the owner who was not home.

06/24/13 14:15 – A report was received of a stray horse east of Vermillion. A deputy attempted to contact the owner who was not home.

06/24/13 19:00 – A report was received of a suspicious object resembling a bomb sitting on a rural bridge. Officers responded along with a DCI bomb specialist. The device was not explosive and was disposed of.

06/24/13 21:32 – A deputy investigated a report of a boat floating on the river with no one in it and the owner was unaccounted for. The owner promptly returned home and the search was canceled.

06/24/13 22:33 – A deputy responded to a report of construction cones in the driving lane on Highway 50. The deputy reset the cones.

06/25/13 12:16 – A report was received of stray goats eating bean plants on Bluff Road. This has been a continuing problem. The goats’ owner was contacted and asked to keep the goats contained.

06/25/13 16:27 – A rural resident called to report the theft of steel posts sometime in the past 6 months. The matter is under investigation.

06/25/13 22:23 – Reports were received of a stray horse east of Vermillion. The owner was contacted who said she would catch the horse. Reports continued indicating the owner did not resolve the issue.

06/26/13 09:53 – After several reports of a stray horse east of Vermillion and numerous attempts to contact the owner, deputies and others who arrived to assist were able to get the horse back into its pen. Options are being considered regarding disposition of horse if the problem continues.

06/26/13 17:50 – A deputy responded to a rural residence to deliver a no trespass order to a person who was not welcome on the property.

06/26/13 17:59 – A Wakonda resident requested extra patrol around her house for the evening due to a dispute with a family member.

06/26/13 22:56 – A deputy mediated a property dispute between a divorcing couple.

06/27/13 19:42 – A deputy transported an inmate from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail after the inmate violated the 24/7 program in Sioux Falls.

06/27/13 22:25 – A report was received of construction cones out of place in a construction zone on Highway 50. A deputy responded and replaced the cones.

06/27/13 22:34 – A deputy observed a vehicle speeding at 70 mph in a 45 mph construction zone on Highway 50. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for the offense.

06/27/13 22:51 – A deputy encountered a disabled vehicle west of Vermillion. He found the car was out of gas and someone was on the way with more. No assistance was necessary.

06/28/13 12:05 – A deputy responded to a rural residence to discuss a civil dispute.

06/28/13 14:10 – A deputy transported an inmate from the Minnehaha County Jail to the Clay County Jail after he was arrested there for a Clay County warrant.

06/28/13 18:42 – A deputy investigated a rollover accident east of Vermillion.

06/28/13 19:58 – A deputy checked on the status of a driver who was reported to be intoxicated. The deputy found the driver was not impaired.

06/28/13 19:58 – A deputy investigated an accident west of Vermillion. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

06/28/13 20:52 – A deputy assisted the Vermillion Police Department with a death investigation in Vermillion. The death was found to be of natural causes.

06/29/13 01:37 – A deputy observed a vehicle on a rural road with it’s lights flashing on and off. He checked on the occupants and subsequently arrested one woman for drug offenses.

06/29/13 08:42 – A caller reported a tractor causing a hazard while loading hay bales from the ditch. A deputy responded and found the tractor had finished and moved on. The information was also shared with the Highway Patrol.

06/29/13 16:15 – A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence.

06/29/13 21:09 – A deputy observed a vehicle speeding at 75 mph in the 55 mph zone on 452nd Ave. The vehicle was stopped and the driver cited for the offense.

06/29/13 23:10 – A deputy investigated a parking complaint on a rural township road.
