07/14/13 10:07 – An Irene nursing home patient called reporting she was suicidal. A deputy responded and contacted the mental health board chairman. No hold was placed. The woman was left in the care of nursing home staff pending further evaluation.
07/14/13 17:47 – A deputy responded along with fire units to a large fire north of Vermillion. It was found to be a controlled brush fire.
07/14/13 22:41 – A deputy observed and stopped an erratic driver near Irene. The driver was not impaired but was informed of the concerns.
07/15/13 07:31 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for driving 77 mph in the 55 mph zone on 302nd Street.
07/15/13 11:28 – A report was received of a rural resident doing business with a transient asphalt paver. Investigation found the contractor used deceptive trade practices. Charges are being considered.

07/16/13 17:09 – Stray goats were observed grazing in a neighboring bean field where there has been an ongoing issue. The goats’ owner was notified and the goats were properly secured.
07/16/13 18:15 – A deputy assisted the coroner and Vermillion Police Officers with investigating a death in Vermillion. The death was of natural causes.
07/16/13 22:01 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for driving 62 mph in a 45 mph construction zone on Highway 50 west of Vermillion.
07/16/13 22:24 – A deputy observed a vehicle operating with a non-functional headlight. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was notified of the problem.
07/17/13 08:40 – A deputy responded to a report of a large round hay bale on Bluff Road. The deputy rolled the hay bale off the road.
07/17/13 16:37 – A vehicle was stopped and the driver was ticketed for speeding at 72 mph in a 45 mph construction zone on Highway 50 near Vermillion.
07/17/13 18:55 – A deputy responded to a medical emergency at Walmart in Vermillion.
07/17/13 19:33 – A deputy investigated a two car accident on Highway 50 east of Vermillion.
07/17/13 20:18 – A deputy responded to a medical emergency at a rural residence.
07/18/13 16:10 – A deputy mediated a dispute between a landlord and former tenant over personal property.
07/18/13 21:51 – A vehicle was observed speeding at 65 mph in a 45 mph construction zone near Vermillion. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for the offense.
07/19/13 00:22 – A report was received of an adult having sexual contact with a child at a rural residence. The incident is under investigation.
07/19/13 20:14 – A report was received of a horse loose on Highway 50 east of Vermillion. A deputy and state trooper were able to get the horse contained in a pen at a nearby residence and left a message for the owner.
07/19/13 21:33 – A deputy found several misplaced construction cones west of Vermillion on Highway 50. The cones were properly replaced.
07/20/13 09:36 – A deputy located a wanted person in Vermillion. The arrest warrant was served and the suspect taken to the Clay County Jail.
07/20/13 14:40 – A deputy transported an inmate from the Union County Jail to the Clay County Jail after he was arrested there for a Clay County arrest warrant.
07/20/13 21:15 – Deputies responded to a domestic assault report near the Missouri River south of Meckling. The suspect had left the scene. The suspect was located and arrested for simple assault and driving while intoxicated.
