Lennox didn’t have a chance on Monday, as Vermillion Post 3061 16U Teeners won in blowout fashion, 18-3 in four innings at Prentis Park in Vermillion.
Vermillion scored eight runs in the fourth on a two-run single by John Benson, an RBI single by Jacob Odens, a two-run single by Ethan James, a wild pitch, and a two-run triple by Joe Miller.
Travis Weber reached base three times in the game for Vermillion Teeners. He scored three runs and had one RBI.
Odens looked sharp on the mound. Lennox managed just one hit off of Odens, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Wyatt Markee got the win in relief for Vermillion. Markee pitched one inning and allowed three runs.
Vermillion hammered Lennox pitching as seven hitters had a field day, combining for 11 hits, seven RBIs and 15 runs scored.
Vermillion jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The home team got things going when Weber doubled. The scoreboard lit up again for Vermillion when Jack Brown scored on an RBI double by Odens and Weber scored on an RBI single by Markee.
The lead stayed with Vermillion after the third, when the team scored seven runs on a groundout by Tyler Madsen, an RBI single by Matt Ouellette, 2s, and two wild pitches.
