Strong, gusting winds didn’t stop both youth and adults from participating in the Vermillion High School Benefit Tennis Tournament, held Friday and Saturday at the USD tennis courts in Vermillion.
“Singles were played Friday morning, and the doubles will go on all afternoon,” Steve Ford, tournament director, said Friday afternoon. “We had 12 and under boys singles, and 14 and under girls singles and 18 and under boys singles. In doubles, we’ve got girls 14 and under, boys 18 and under. Saturday we will have adults.”
Ford said most of the youth who participated are involved in school tennis programs in the program. Young athletes from Madison, Yankton, Sioux Falls and Vermillion took part in the tournament, held to raise funds for the Vermillion school’s tennis program.
People wishing to donate funds to the tennis program may make their check out to the Vermillion School Foundation with a note on the check that it is for the tennis team. All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
