Butch Beach, 64, of Vermillion, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at his residence after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Butch was born March 19, 1949, in Burbank, to Kenneth and Gertrude (Clifford) Beach. He attended Vermillion schools graduating in 1967 and received his Associates Degree from Sioux Empire College in Hawarden, IA. In 1968 he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea and worked for the deputy chiefs of staff for the military intelligence as a coordinator, he was discharged in 1971. He married Joan Buckman on July 6, 1974, in Yankton.
Butch retired as a postal carrier after 32 years and then worked in the purchasing department at the Sanford Vermillion Hospital for six years. His life revolved around his family, and he enjoyed Mill Lake, fishing, and being around his good friends.
He is survived by his wife, Joan, and three sons, Wade (Tina), Matt (Callie) and Cory Beach all of Vermillion; a brother, Gary (Sheila) Beach of Yankton; and two sisters, Susie Livingston of Council Bluffs, IA and Susan Reeves of Avon, CT. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Riley, Kellen and Braxton Beach.
Funeral Mass was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion. Visitation began at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. all at the church. hansenfuneralhome.com.
