University of South Dakota head women’s basketball coach Amy Williams is pleased to announce the signing of Emily Smith from Ocean Springs, MO, to a national letter of intent. She will be eligible to play this upcoming season.
A 6-foot-3-inch post player, Smith helped Ocean Springs High School to back-to-back division titles the past two seasons. She led the Greyhounds in blocks during her junior and senior seasons and averaged 7.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a junior.
“We are excited to add Emily to the Coyote roster,” said Williams. “Emily brings good size and skill, and will bring depth and versatility to our post position.”
Smith was also a standout volleyball player, helping Ocean Springs to two straight appearances in the Class III state finals.
Smith is the fifth recruit to sign with South Dakota this season, joining Bridget Arens of Crofton, NE, Jaylah Jackson of Olathe, KS, Maddy White of Warrnambool, Australia, and Raeshel Contreras of San Francisco, CA.
