David Lawrence Kimball, 57, of Vermillion, passed away at Sanford Vermillion Hospital on Sept. 9, 2013.

A visitation was held from 6 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at United Church of Christ – Congregational of Vermillion with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at BluffView Cemetery.

David was born on Sept. 5, 1956, in Sacramento, CA, to Harvey and Joy (Neilson) Kimball.

On July 29, 1978, David married the love of his life, Ranae Husby, and the two remained happily married until his passing. David joined Ranae in Vermillion, where she had lived her entire life. They moved to Reno, NV, and lived there for 14 years before returning to the quieter life of South Dakota where he was a member of the community for more than 20 years.

David was a quiet man who enjoyed spending time at home with his family. In his free time he enjoyed games of chance, especially Keno, and playing cards. He also enjoyed getting out on the road with his motorcycle.

David is survived by his wife, Ranae (Husby) Kimball, of Vermillion; his children, Paul (Renae) Kimball of Burbank, Brad Kimball of Vermillion, Karen (Cody) Hall of Vermillion, and Brian (Alicia) Kimball of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Christian, Shelby, Layne, David, Jordan, Destiny, Noah, Navaya, Arianna, Ryker, Justin, Bryce, Kaitlyn, Kyelah, Karrah, and Harper; his siblings, Harvey and Lora; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Joy Kimball; and his siblings, John and Pauline.

Services have been entrusted to the Kober Funeral Home of Vermillion.
