Georgia Texley

Georgia Adrienne Teskey, daughter of Frank and Faye (Haines) Teskey, was born Jan. 26, 1931 in Deadwood. They lived in Hill City and later at her grandparents’ ranch near Faith, before her family moved to Lemmon. There she attended school and graduated from Lemmon High School. She had many fond memories from her childhood of spending time at the Teskey cabin in the Black Hills near Hill City and the Haines ranch near Faith.

She was united in marriage to Henry Texley Jr. in November of 1949 in Lemmon. Georgia then devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother, raising her six children on the farm north of Lemmon. In 1990, she moved to Vermillion to become a housemother of the Alpha Xi Delta House. After retiring in 2001, she moved to Huntley, MT to be near her sons and their families. She returned to Vermillion in 2004 and in 2009 she moved to Sioux Falls to be near family.

She was a member of Church of God, Lemmon. A 50- year member of PEO with membership in Chapter AH, Lemmon, and Chapter BV, Vermillion; and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a born again Christian that truly loved the Lord with all her heart, spirit and soul. She was an avid reader, sewed, and enjoyed Tole painting (she painted beautiful Christmas ornaments for her children and grandchildren), and loved SDPTV, education and the arts. She was an independent person and loved to engage in substantive conversations with good friends and family.
