SDPB earns Emmy® for promotional spot

A promotional spot for the “Antiques Roadshow” visit to South Dakota has earned an Emmy® for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. The spot, created by SDPB Promotions Producer Dave Foote, was honored in the Program Promotion – Single Spot category at the Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Awards Sept. 28 in Minneapolis.

SDPB was honored with three Emmy® nominations this year:

  • “Light of the Prairie,”a documentary about South Dakota’s stained glass legacy, produced by Stephanie Rissler and edited by Kyle Mork, in the Historical Documentary category.
  • A public service announcement created by Brian Gevik for the SD My Life website in the Community Public Service Campaign category.
  • The winning “Antiques Roadshow” spot, which was voiced by SDPB Director of Radio Joe Tlustos and supervised by Director of Marketing Fritz Miller.

“Congratulations to Dave and all the staff involved in these projects,” said SDPB Executive Director Julie Andersen. “The award and the nominations indicate the incredible talent of SDPB’s staff.”

SDPB competed with public and commercial television broadcasters from South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska for awards from the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
