The Iowa Communication Association hosts a conference every year to allow faculty to exchange teaching and research ideas and to honor the best and brightest teachers in the state. Jamie Stech, an assistant professor at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA, earned one of these awards at the 2013 conference held in Ankeny, Iowa.
Jamie, originally from Osmond, NE, earned the Outstanding New Teacher of the Year Award at the conference in September. Last year Jamie received the Outstanding Adjunct Teacher Award at the conference. Jamie has been a full-time instructor since 2009 and teaches classes such as Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication and Group Communication. She is presently taking classes at the University of Nebraska and will attain her Doctorate in Educational Administration in 2014.
Jamie is a 2003 graduate of Osmond High School, a 2007 graduate of Wayne State College where she received her Bachelor Degree and a 2008 graduate of University of South Dakota in Vermillion where she received her Master’s Degree. She is the daughter of Marvin and Mary Beth Stech of Osmond.
