Tickets are on sale for the annual Heartland Humane Society Wine & Whiskers on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Minerva’s Event Center in Yankton.
The event will take place from 6:30-10 p.m. and will feature wine and beer tasting, handmade mitten sales, shelter updates, and a large silent and live auction with more than 90 packages to take home.
“We have had wonderful support for this year’s event and have some awesome auction items including trips, athletic tickets, artwork, and more,” said Kerry Schmidt, executive director at Heartland Humane Society. “All proceeds will fund our operating costs for vet care and animal expenses.”
Tickets are $50 and may be purchased at the HHS shelter or by calling (605) 664-4244.

Heartland Humane Society has rescued more than 300 animals in 2013. Schmidt hopes to raise over $45,000 at the event.
“This is our big fundraiser each year,” she said. “Without the event we wouldn’t be able to help as many animals as we do.”
Heartland Humane Society serves Yankton, Vermillion, and the surrounding area, protecting and enhancing the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people.
