Rawlins Piano Trio to play with USD Symphony Orchestra

The Rawlins Piano Trio will highlight a free concert of the USD Symphony Orchestra on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Aalfs Auditorium in Slagle Hall. The Trio, which includes violinist Eunho Kim, cellist Marie-Elaine Gagnon and pianist Susan Keith Gray, will play the slow movement of Tchaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto, a work which demonstrates the composer’s mastery of beautiful melody and instrumental writing.

The orchestra will also play a collection of Tchaikovsky’s ballet movements taken from Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. Student conductor Victor Yip will lead the group in the graceful Rondeau – Polonaise by Franz Anton Hoffmeister and Giovanni Bottesini’s Elegy for Double Bass and Orchestra with Rick Rognstad playing the bass solo.
