The Region 4A Volleyball Tournament, held Nov. 5 in Elk Point, started out well for the Tanagers. The Tea Area Titans fell to the Tanagers in three straight, hard-fought games (25-23), (25-17), (25-19).
“Noteworthy performances came from the entire team,” said Coach Lenni Billberg. “Our kids really played together throughout.”
Josie Huber and Rachel Finnegan had a dozen kills apiece to lead the Tanagers. Huber also had 15 digs and 6 aces, while C Sarah Hughes had 15 digs, Melissa Chickering had 29 assists, and Rachel Finnegan had 12 kills. Melanie LeCates, in her first start, had 2 aces and 7 timely digs.
The Tanagers next travel to Dakota Valley High School to face the Panthers in the semifinals on Thursday night at 7:45 p.m.
“We can’t wait to face them in the grudge match,” Billberg said. “Both teams will lay it all out there to continue their season.”
The Tanagers lost to the Panthers 2-1 on Oct 25.
