The VHS Bowling team had their best night of the season this past Friday night (Jan. 24) as a team. Vermillion bowled against Yankton Bucks team that is in its first year of existence, and did a fine job, but just ran into a very hot Vermillion team.
During game one of the three game series, the varsity one team compiled a whopping 714 team pinfall. Tristan Mollet rolled 224, Kodie Lovejoy 245 and Collin Lovejoy 245.
Varsity one compiled a team series of 1940 total pinfall, taking all four team points. Varsity two boys had a great day also as they also compiled 1613 pinfall and took 1 team match point. Vermillion won the match 5 to 3.
The Vermillion varsity girls’ team bowled against a short handed Yankton team, as Yankton only had one bowler.
Individual girls series were Kayla Stammer, 519, Michela Constant, 453, Abbey Weiss, 410, Sharrie Stammer ,370, Kathie Herrera, 355, Tanasha Watson, 284.
Individual boys varsity series were: Kodie Lovejoy, 716, Brett Hansen, 625, Collin Lovejoy, 617, Tristan Mollet, 607, Avery Mollet, 511, Ryan Brunick, 477.
Junior Varsity results were: Sam Craig, 501, Alec Leber, 388, Bryson Turner, 296.
Collin Lovejoy was also notified by the SDUSBC (South Dakota United States Bowling Congress) that he, along with Pierre’s Cody Henrichsen, have been chosen to receive the “Star of Tomorrow Award.”
Each recipient will receive a $500 college scholarship.
