Vermillion gymnasts 4th in Stanley County

FT. PIERRE – The Tanagers faired well at the SC Hula Luau Invite on Jan. 11. Lacking the Hawaiian grass skirts and a pig roast, there was plenty of hot Region 2A gymnastics action. This was a great preview of the Feb. 15 region meet in Wagner.

“The girls had a great showing in Stanley County,” said Coach Skye Bork. “We have been working many new skills and debuted a significant number of them.”

Carter Williams lead the Tanagers by placing 8th in the All-Around completion with a score of 30.60. Her best event was the Floor Exercise, placing 2nd with a score of 8.45.

“Beam continues to be an issue as we cannot stay on, and each fall is a significant deduction,” said Bork. “However, we performed beam the best we have this year. Our score went up 8 points from Winter Wonderland and all 8 of those points came on beam.”

Anneliese Taggart placed 8th with 30.50 pts. Cheyenne Mallory tied for 11th with 29.35 pts. Anna Hammond tied for 16th with 27.25 pts. Morgan Graham was 21st with 25.95 pts. Hope Knedler tied for 25th with 22.80 pts.

“We are gaining momentum and confidence as the season progresses,” said Bork.
